The Power of Writing Down Your Purpose

On September 27th, 2021, I wrote down my purpose. At the time, I didn’t know what it was exactly. I only knew I felt called to write it down—to open myself to receiving a deeper understanding of who I am and why I’m here.

The words I wrote were simple but powerful:
“I will bring more love, peace, healing, tolerance, understanding, and enlightenment to all. Show me my path. Help me understand how.”

Looking back, it felt cliché to be “seeking purpose.” Isn’t everyone? But the truth is, my purpose was not outside of me, waiting in a job, a relationship, or an achievement. It was already inside me. Writing it down was my way of remembering that.

Four years later, I can see the magic in that simple act. I didn’t have a playbook or a clear direction—just a willingness to ask. That willingness was enough. Today, I am living my purpose. Maybe on a small scale, but it fills my heart. I get to be me, and I get to bring positivity and love into the world. That is everything.

This is why I invite you to do the same:

  • Write down your purpose.
You don’t need to know exactly what it is. You just need to ask.

  • Write it somewhere you can return to.

  • Call on your guides, your guardians, your ancestors.

  • Let the universe know you are ready.

You may be surprised by what happens when you declare it. The simple act of writing down your purpose can open doors to self-discovery and transformation.

There is no playbook. There is only your courage to ask and the gratitude to receive.

So, write it down. Begin.

Journal Prompts

  1. The Courage to Ask
What would it feel like to simply ask the universe, my guides, or my higher self to reveal my purpose? Write down the words you would use to make that request.

  2. Seeds of Purpose
When I look back on my life, what moments, no matter how small, have brought me joy, peace, or a sense of contribution? How might these moments hold clues to my deeper purpose?

  3. Living the “Small Scale” Purpose
What are three ways I am already living my purpose today, even if it feels small? How can I honor and expand these small acts of love and positivity?
